74th Annual Meeting at the IMAX!!!
March 13, 2208 marked the 74th Annual Meeting of the Avista Corp. Credit Union. Over 240 members and their families gathered at the IMAX Theater to enjoy dinner, the Credit Union's business meeting and elections, and a movie.
The elections were held to name four Directors for three year terms, and two Supervisory Committee members for three year terms. Al Fisher, Randy Cloward, Cam Mallon and Bill Phipps were re-elected to the Board of Directors, while Teresa Carter and Jeanne Pluth were elected to the Supervisory Committee. Congratulations and thanks to these members who volunteer their time to your member-owned, not-for-profit Credit Union.
Tips to Safeguard yourself against Identity Fraud!
Most consumers are overwhelmed and unsure of what steps can be taken to protect against identity theft. Here are the six most effective tips:
- Consumers should frequently monitor their bank and credit card accounts online. These consumers are most likely to uncover fraud the fastest.
- Annually review your credit information. You can obtain one free report from the the top three reporting agencies at AnnualCreditReport.com or by calling 1-800-322-8228.
- Do not provide sensitive personal information over the phone unless you placed the call to a trusted location. This includes Social Security Numbers, Personal Identification Numbers (PIN’s), or account numbers. This same rule applies to e-mailing.
- Keep your operating systems updated on your computer. This includes firewall, browser, anti-spyware and anti-virus security software.
- Make financial transactions online; which replaces paper invoices, statements and checks with electronic versions. If you choose paper, be sure you have secure postal boxes for sending and receiving mail.
- Minimize access to your personal information wherever possible. Don’t carry Social Security cards and debit &/or credit cards or checks you don’t need. Don’t leave sensitive information out in the open.
